Everyone of us know that India uses thermal energy to generate most of its electricity requirements !!! But its the post about our Vision !!! Some interesting trivia are also shared in this post about India's Mission of Electricity to all !!!
We Indians can be pride in saying we are leaders in Wind Power Generation !!! And good news is that, India is about to lead the World in Solar Power too !!!
National Solar Mission was constituted to make India Global leader in Solar Power !!! India is gifted with 300 days (on average) of sunny days every year !!! So its better to make full use of it !!!
35000 Sq.Km area was allocated in Thar Desert for Solar power project !!! Power generated will be from 700 GW to 2100 GW !!!
Studies says that India has a capability of producing 5 Peta-Watt Hours per year (Peta-watt = 10^15 Watt) !!!
Daily average solar energy incident over India varies from 4 to 7 kWh/m^2 !!! Practically speaking its thousand times greater than the domestic electricity demand projected for the year 2015 (considering efficiency of PV cell is 10%) !!!
At present, Solar energy accounts to 1% of total energy demand !!! The cost of production is the factor for this low percentage !!! It costs from
15 to 30 per unit in case of production using Solar energy, where as its around 5 to 8 in case of thermal energy !!!
Now Brain storming experiments are in process to invent less cost panels !!! Whatever be the case, Tariff will be finalized by Central Electricity Regulatory Commission of India !!!
Rural Electrification is India's biggest challenge !!! As on 2004 - there were 80000 villages which has never seen electricity !!! The sad part of this is, there is no chance of electrifying 18000 villages by traditional electrical connection which is in practice now !!! Govt planned to electrify these villages using Solar power !!!
As of now, 2700 villages in India have been electrified by solar energy !!! About 3000 villages in Odisha will be electrified with solar power by 2014 !!!
Bangalore leads India in Solar Energy !!! More number of roof top solar powers are available in Bangalore !!! Very soon, Country's first Grid connected, Utility scale project may be developed !!!
Bangalore also holds credit for its incentive scheme !!! Every house with Solar panels were given a rebate of50 in their monthly electricity bill !!! Now solar panels are made mandatory for all new structures !!!
Trivia :

Govt has allocated huge amount in developing solar power for this financial year !!! Also custom duty of solar panels were reduced by 5% which will reduce its installation cost by 15% !!!
